Provence

Meet the Daviners

Chloé and Nicola together

My mother insisted we needed a section about our story. So, since Nicola probably won’t read this, here’s the true version. Mine.

We met at one of his house parties: a French-Italian girl and a boy from the outskirts of Naples. He was obviously obsessed. I took a little longer.

One thing led to another, and before long we had fallen in love in Rome, fixed up a house in France, and crossed an ocean to build a life together in New York.

He still can’t believe his luck.

And this is, of course, the true story.

But it has never really been just ours.

Our favorite people are part of it too.

The people we love live in different places, and there are never quite enough occasions to find ourselves around the same table. So we’re bringing everyone together in Provence for good food, long evenings, and, above all, time together.

Beyond the celebration

A little guide to Provence

Paris is always a good idea. But have you considered Provence?

There's something about the South of France: the golden light, the timeless villages, and long lunches that turn into even longer afternoons.

Provence holds a special place in our hearts, and we're delighted to share it with you. Whether you're here for the weekend or staying a little longer, we've gathered a few of our favorite places and experiences to help you discover its charm.

01Make yourself at homeIn Lourmarin · Where to stay

For the wedding weekend, we recommend making Lourmarin your home away from home.

Nestled among vineyards and olive groves, this charming Luberon village is full of cobblestone streets, little boutiques, and lively terraces. Wander through the Friday market, linger over a glass of rosé, and enjoy the slower pace of Provence.

Our wedding will take place nearby, at Château de Pradines in Grambois.

Boutique hotel · Village center

Le Moulin, Beaumier

A former mill turned village retreat, with a restaurant, a bar, and a pool. A lovely base for stepping straight out into Lourmarin.

Official website

Quiet boutique hotel · Adults only

La Bastide de Lourmarin

A peaceful option with a pool, spa facilities, and a pétanque court. Please note that the hotel does not accommodate children.

Small guesthouse · Village center

La Maison de Lourmarin

Just four rooms and suites, right in the village. Ask about kitchen access if you are planning a longer stay.

03The art of doing very littleWine, markets & long lunches

Much of the pleasure of Provence lies between destinations: a market basket, a long lunch, an afternoon with nowhere else to be.

A glass of something local

Wine & olive oil

Château de Sannes

Our first stop for a Luberon vineyard outing: estate visits, wine and olive oil tastings, and local produce. Check the available experiences and book ahead.

Wine & gardens

Château Val Joanis

For those who enjoy gardens as much as wine. Explore the estate’s Jardin Remarquable; check garden access before visiting.

Art, architecture & wine

Château La Coste

Contemporary art among the vines, architecture, wine, and lunch. Give this one at least half a day rather than squeezing it into a quick stop.

The ochre trails

Explore Roussillon or the Colorado Provençal at Rustrel. Check booking requirements and access conditions before setting out.

Check visitor access

A game of pétanque

A shaded village square, a leisurely game of boules, and perhaps an apéritif afterward.

A bicycle ride through the vineyards

Consider an e-bike for the hills, and ask a local rental shop for a route suited to your level.

A picnic, à la provençale

Bread, ripe tomatoes, goat cheese, olives, and a beautiful spot. Sometimes that really is enough.

A table for two (or more)

For a special meal

La Petite Maison de Cucuron

Éric Sapet’s seasonal Provençal cooking by the Étang. A lovely reason to linger in Cucuron; reserve ahead.

04If you have a little more timeA little more of the South

If you’re making a little holiday of the trip, here are a few ideas.

City life, Provençal style

Aix-en-Provence

Fountains, markets, museums, and café terraces. Lovely for a day of wandering through elegant old streets.

Open in maps

A little Mediterranean escape

Cassis

A colorful harbor and turquoise water. Consider a boat trip to see the Calanques; departures depend on weather and local conditions.

Open in maps

For a few days by the sea

Saint-Tropez

Beaches, little streets, and Riviera glamour. We would make this a separate stay, rather than a day trip from Lourmarin.

Open in maps

For a little piece of paradise

Porquerolles

Take the ferry, rent a bicycle, and discover pine forests and clear-water coves. Le Mas du Langoustier is a beautiful option for a longer escape; check its 2027 opening dates.
